iPrntUp

Introduction:
This program has been made because iPrint by Novell lacks the possibility to update drivers for iPrint printers.
With iPrntUp you can update the drivers on a workstation whenever the workstation starts. It uses the description field of the printer to keep track of the version of the driver.
It checks the info in this field of the local printer and compares it with the info in eDir. If the driverversion number is not equal, the printer will be deleted and added again, with the new drivers from the Broker.
iPrntUp will work for Windows 2000/XP and needs a current iPrint client installed on the workstation.

Example 1:
You have one of those nice laserprinters in your building, and about 30 people have this printer on their local machine. Now, an extra tray has come in, and is added to this printer.
Now, you start your iManager, adjust the profile to this printer accordingly, and set the driverversion number 1 higher. Next time a user logs in, who has this printer on their local machine, the driver will be deleted and added again with the new profile.

Example 2:
One of your old printer has just been replaced with a shiny new one, a model new to the company. You start iManager and add the driver to the Broker. Next, you go to the printer in iManager (your old printer name), change the driver (and change the profile if necessary), and set the driverversion number 1 higher. Next time a user logs in, who has this printer on their local machine, the driver will be deleted and added again with the new driver (and profile).

Example 3:
One of your printers has been given trouble a lot, and it has been determined that the driver is at fault. You start iManager and add the new driver for this printer to the Broker. Next, you go to the printer in iManager, change the driver (and change the profile if necessary), and set the driverversion number 1 higher. Next time a user logs in, who has this printer on their local machine, the driver will be deleted and added again with the new driver (and profile).

So, you don’t need to know who has which printer on their workstation, which kind of driver do they have. You can now do all this from one centralized point.
